Ah sorry I probably just copied/pasted it poorly - that text was in a debugger dump.

aces 1.0.3 config parse issue with OpenColorIO 2?

Paul Miller

Tried loading aces_1.0.3 with OCIO2 and CreateFromFile is throwing an exception:

Error: Loading the OCIO profile '/Users/paul/src/OpenColorIO-Configs/aces_1.0.3' failed. At line 0, '' parsing failed: The specified OCIO configuration file /Users/paul/src/OpenColorIO-Configs/aces_1.0.3 does not appear to have a valid version <null>.

config.ocio starts with ocio_profile_version: 1

Known issue?

Pull request for disabling SSE on non-Intel targets by default

L. E. Segovia

Hello everyone,

I've just read about this issue on the GitHub repo:

https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/OpenColorIO/issues/940

Having been bitten before by intrinsics enabled by default in non-x64 targets, would you be interested in a pull request to fix it?

Best regards,

Leonardo

looking for a few good bugs

Doug Walker

Hi all,

We currently have the good fortune of having a number of developers involved in the Google Summer of Code project looking to get involved with OCIO. One of our prerequisites is that they complete a PR, usually by fixing an issue on GitHub tagged with "good first issue".

However, we are finding that some of the issues with that label are not actually well suited for people new to the project and we need to create some more "good first issues". Patrick and I will start reviewing bugs in the coming days to try and find some more easy ones, but I thought I would put out a call to the community.

Do you have an easy/small bug that you've been wanting to get fixed? Please make sure your issue is logged in GitHub and let us know if you'd like to nominate it for a "good first issue".

thanks!

Doug Walker

GSoC - Yash pull request accepted

Patrick Hodoul

Edited

Congrats to @Yash Agrawal (potential GSoC student) for his first pull request being merged in the OCIO repo.

As mentioned a good criteria for students willing to work in the OpenColorIO project is to submit a pull request. And Yash made it.
The next step is to prepare your subject, take the time to think about it and contact the community and/or mentors when needed.

For the others, keep thinking/learning about the project and a potential first work. You still have some time (but time is flying) so contact mentors if you have questions.

Patrick

Google Summer of Code

Michael Dolan

Hi all,

I wanted to share with you that the ASWF has been accepted as a mentoring organization to this year's Google Summer of Code. OpenColorIO and our sibling ASWF projects have teamed up to suggest work that participating university students could propose to accomplish over their summer break. Our projects will benefit from full time developers, and we in turn can mentor students as they explore the critical role open source software plays in the media and entertainment industry.

From March 16th to March 31st, students will be able to submit applications to propose projects. If you or someone you know would be a good candidate for participating in GSoC with OpenColorIO or another ASWF project, please check out these links for more information on the program and how to get started:

GSoC home page: https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/

GSoC ASWF organization page: https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/organizations/5926184669413376/

Thanks,
Michael
