Sample OCIO Configurations + Reference Images updated
Jeremy Selan <jeremy...@...>
I've just pushed out updated OCIO configurations and updated reference images.
Both can be downloaded from opencolorio.org: http://opencolorio.org/downloads.html Changes: - Minor update to the nuke-default profile. The gpu allocation for linear has been adjusted to have better black resolution. Previously, when linear images (float) were loaded to the GPU the allocation was such that blacks would appear slightly lifted. This has been corrected. I would recommend that all applications which ship the nuke-default profile update at your convenience. - The reference images were getting unwieldy in size, so I've given in and decided to post 0.5K rather than 2K examples. The flip side is that this will allow us to post additional configuration image examples as needed. Enjoy! -- Jeremy |

Sounds good - 0.5K example images are more than big enough, I'd say One minor problem - not checked properly, but it looks like the images were all scaled down, instead of scaling down the source and applying the colour-transforms. For example in the spi-vfx, the linear EXR's have filtering "artefacts" around the fully-saturated primaries which the png/dpx images do not. It would be kind of useful to retain a full-res Marcie DPX in the example images, as it's surprisingly hard to find online now (it disappeared from Kodak's site, and I suspect it might not return…) As a complete aside - I'm pretty sure Rising Sun Research had a slightly-different frame of Marcie to the Kodak branded one, her eyes were at a slightly different angle etc.. I wonder how many different frames are around.. - Ben On 11/01/2012, at 12:23 PM, Jeremy Selan wrote: I've just pushed out updated OCIO configurations and updated reference images. |

I've added back in the full res images (in their original color spaces only). Having multiple images was space prohibitive, but a single copy of each is useful. Agreed.

I've never seen another Marcie version. Anyone else? If memory serves, Marci was originally included as one image in a batch of .cin files included with the original Cineon compositing system. It would be neat historically to dig up those images... (maybe someone on the mailing list has them stashed somewhere?) The 'traditional' Marci is still freely downloadable from Kodak: http://motion.kodak.com/motion/Support/Technical_Information/Lab_Tools_And_Techniques/digitallad.htm And for those interested in more Marcie links, https://sites.google.com/site/donutscience/Home/kodakmarciefinallyidentified http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=18421434312 In terms of filtering, I reconfirmed that all versions of the images are derived from a single down-res source. But I used a fairly sharp filter (lanczos3), so I can confirm the ringing on the sharp square patches . I'll try to update them this week with less objectionable versions. -- Jeremy On Sun, Jan 15, 2012 at 7:18 AM, dbr/Ben <dbr....@...> wrote:

I put it here if you guys want to take a look: http://www.fnordware.com/marcie_clean.zip I thought they had taken Marcie down, but I guess they just moved her. And now they have 4K versions! Yes, I have spent far too much time looking at this image (while debugging color workflows, sicko). Brendan |

Wow! A 4K Marci. That's good to stash away. (I hadnt re-downloaded that recently).

And doing a quick bit of forensics on the 4K image, if you do a bilinear down-res from 4k->2k you can *exactly* recreate the traditional 2K Marci (down to the lsb). So this appears to be the *original* 4K Marcie source scan from back in the day (With the logo swapped). You'll also note that someone switched the traditional orange kodak logo with a different black one. Sacrilege. :) -- Jeremy On Tue, Jan 17, 2012 at 11:36 AM, Brendan Bolles <bre...@...> wrote:
