Looking for a config with Rec.2020 and Rec.2021

Sorry everyone - got a request for 2020 and 2021 and didn't look too much into it. Yeah, 2100 is probably what we want. Thanks for the pointers!

By "2021" do you actually mean Rec.2100? If so, then yes, the ACES config handles these.

The "2020" terminology is quite confusing since Rec.2020 never really took off as a video delivery format. However, the primary set from Rec.2020 is used elsewhere, including in the main HDR video standard, which is called Rec.2100.

The ACES config has an Output Transform called "Rec.2020" as well as "Rec.2020 P3D65 Limited" and "Rec.2020 Rec.709 Limited", the latter clamp the gamut as specified. These are all 100-nit SDR transforms with a 2.4 gamma (and are probably not widely used).

Rec.2100 has two flavors: PQ and HLG. The 1.1 or 1.2 ACES config has Output Transforms for both flavors. The HLG flavor is called "Rec.2020 HLG 1000 nits" and the PQ flavor has versions for 1000, 2000, and 4000 nits named as "Rec.2020 ST2084 1000 nits", etc.

Unfortunately it is common in the industry to use the "Rec.2020" naming in connection with HDR video. The technically correct name is Rec.2100. Ideally ACES would drop the "Rec.2020" naming in connection with HDR transforms.

Hi Paul,

Do you mean Rec. 2100? The ACES 1.1 config includes ST2084 and HLG. Doesn't that cover what you need?

Best regards,
