Dear OCIO community,
We are pleased to announce that the beta testing period has concluded and that the
official release 2.0.0 of OpenColorIO is now available!
For those of you who have been following our progress since the original presentation to the community at SIGGRAPH 2017 or have noticed the many pull requests on GitHub, you know that there are a ton of new features, including:
- A more accurate GPU renderer and faster CPU renderer
- More accurate ACES transforms and support for the Academy Common LUT Format (CLF)
- New mathematical operator types and inversion support for all operators (including 3d-LUTs)
- Better support for display color spaces and ICC monitor profiles
- New color space properties such as categories to support a better user experience
... and many more!
The website and documentation have also been refreshed and contain a section describing the new features in v2 as well as a demo config. There is always more work to do on documentation and we invite
your participation in the #docs channel on Slack to help us take that even further.
We also invite you to participate in the working groups devoted to upgrading the ACES config to v2 and to improving the user experience. The calendar for the OCIO Zoom meetings is
here.
OCIO v2 is included in the VFX Reference Platform for calendar year 2021, so we hope you will see the new version show up in new releases of your favorite applications over the course of this year.
On behalf of the other OCIO Technical Steering Committee members, I invite you to check out the new release and to get involved. OpenColorIO v2 would not have been possible without participation from the community. Thanks to all who guided
and contributed to this project!
