OpenTimelineIO meeting agenda 2020-02-06
Joshua Minor
Here are my notes from today's meeting:
Attendees: Joshua Minor (Pixar) Eric Reinecke (Netflix) Daniel Flehner Heen (Storm Studios) Topics: A few people sent apologies for not attending due to conflicts. - We'll catch you all next time :) Recap & Discussion about ASWF Open Source Forum from last week - Nice to hear from the other ASWF projects - each project is moving forward & seeing a wide range of benefits from the ASWF. - ASWF is forming a USD working group to assist/engage with the USD project. Trusted Partner Network (TPN) - Daniel gave us an overview of what TPN is and the challenges related to that. - Specifically there are network connectivity restrictions that make it difficult to download, build, and/or push contributions to OSS. - Also, there are approval steps needed to download and upload material to/from a TPN. - TPN members could use help from ASWF to more easily use and contribute to Open Source projects. - We discussed some possibilities of providing bundled downloads with source, documentation, etc. as well as a guide/tutorial on how to best push code changes from inside an isolated network back to an upstream project (with proper approvals). OTIO release - Blocked on some setup.py issues - Eric and Josh attempting to make time to push this forward - Josh will seek help from someone else with setup.py experience. PR/Issue maintenance - Eric has been helping to respond to incoming bug reports & PRs (Thanks Eric!) - We discussed the proper steps for approving & landing PRs - with at least 2 people (author & reviewer) looking at each PR. - After this next release, we should circle back to some older PRs that are lingering. Google Summer of Code - OTIO, along with other ASWF projects, has submitted a list of potential projects for Google Summer of Code. - We are hoping to engage with the student community and get some new contributors, as well as provide mentoring to students. Image Sequence support - Branch is nearly ready to land - Other adapters may gain support for this in the future. - PR should update the Feature Matrix to show which adapters do/don't support Image Sequences Formal Specification for OTIO - Netflix is offering to help formalize the specification for OTIO - An effort towards this some time ago stalled, but we expect that to re-start soon. - This will be a topic for some future meetings. --- Joshua Minor (he-him) Pixar Studio Tools Story/Editorial/VR Previs Tech Lead joshm@... |
